Today our dog is a bunny named Thumper. He is litter-box trained and very cuddly.  Visit the Siouxland Humane Society to learn more about adoption.

Support for Welcome. Sit. Stay. comes from Priscilla E. Forsyth, Attorney at Law, located in Sioux City and providing criminal defense and immigration law services to the Siouxland community.

This year LaVon and her team of volunteers at the Siouxland Humane Society will make  close to 13,000 gourmet, double-chocolate apples. The project helps to fund not only the food and shelter given to the animals currently at the SHS, but also the veterinary care that some require, the spay/neuter program, educational classes, adoption outreach, transportation, and so much more. It's a fascinating conversation on Food for Thought. Join us.

Today, Art Silva joins Steve Smith for Cultural Continuum. He's here to help spread the word about "Face Off for Charity," a fundraising event for Boys and Girls Home and Family Services.

Folks can bid on items at the Musketeers' games January 30th and 31st in order to support children and adults who are suffering from abuse and severe neglect. Food will be served on the ice by Sioux City Musketeers. It's a great event with a greater purpose.

Local Support from State Universities

Jan 22, 2015

Steve Warnstadt: The state universities, the three state universities, Iowa, Iowa State, and Northern Iowa, have understood that they need to be providing services in northwest Iowa. So last year they established the Northwest Iowa Regents Resource Center, which is a collaboration between those three and the two community colleges in northwest Iowa.

In our ongoing series Music for Pollock, we invite local bands and musicians to view Jackson Pollock's Mural and find a way to express their impressions using music. We begin the process at the Sioux City Art Center, where Mural is currently on view.

Little Person, Big Trucks

Jan 20, 2015

Recently, I was given the responsibility to produce my first radio program for FM90 -- a huge honor. After a week or so of constant searching for a story to report, one fell right into my lap. Monster trucks were coming to Siouxland, and just as the radio station had done last year, they wanted to send someone to cover the event. Lucky me.

I was a like a fish out of water. The world of monster truck racing is not a world I have ever delved into in my personal life. But, I was eager to learn about something new.

Cat Stevens has re-started his career under the name Yusuf Islam. His latest recording is on the bluesier side of folk and it’s been a mainstay on the TOB for a couple of months now.  If you’ve not heard it yet, you can hear it now on the 10 O’clock Blues.
