A Synesthetic Scriabin Recital

Wikimedia Commons

Alexander Scriabin was one of the great symbolist composers of the 20th century. His work was shaped by his mystical beliefs, which he thought would bring the world to a new Nirvana, enducing a state of mystic rapture. Pianist Arthur Greene will perform a selection of Scriabin’s works this Sunday in Eppley auditorium. The recital will be set in darkness with projected images complimenting the music. Morningside Piano Recital Series director, Jim March, says this presentation is well suited to the composer.
