We're done with the best of 2017 and we're looking forward to what the new year has to offer with new music from Bettye LaVette and Shaun Murphey who has sung backup for many rock and blues legends.
We front load the show with some live Gary Clark Jr. and we go back a few years to hear the late Clarence Gatemouth Brown and a swinging version of Caldonia. We'll also hear new music from Albert Cummings, Peter Parcek and Bettye LaVette's album of Bob Dylan songs.
The 25 best blues albums have been curated and made available for your listening pleasure (as long as you only want to listen to one song from each album and you really only want to listen to the top 12 or so). Every year Stumpy Steve puts all the albums into a complex matrix of radio airplay from across the country according to Living Blues Magazine and then he cross checks all that with his own idea of what deserves the top honors. Now we have this. Please listen!
Another great collection of new blues with timely blasts from the past again on the TOB this week. On the newer side Peter Parcek and Curtis Salgado fresh out of the shrink wrap, mixed in with classics from John Lee Hooker and James Cotton.
Betty Lavette covering Pink Floyd? Yes please! Hear that plus Dr. John with the Original Blues Brothers Band, Stevie Ray Vaughn and Double Trouble and a great tune from Oklahoma roots rocker JD McPherson.
