Warren Haynes On World Cafe

Warren Haynes.
Cameron Pollack/WXPN
Warren Haynes.

Warren Haynes is best known for playing lead guitar for Gov't Mule and being in the final lineup of The Allman Brothers Band, who recently put their career to bed with a last series of concerts at The Beacon Theater in New York. Meanwhile, Haynes has been making solo studio albums, each with a distinct style. His last one, 2011's Man in Motion, was his soul album. Now comes Ashes & Dust, recorded with the progressive bluegrass band Railroad Earth. It's his acoustic album, and Haynes stretches out its music in long jams for this World Cafe Live performance. The songs include a Fleetwood Mac cover and a song Warren has been playing for a while, co-written with Phil Lesh of the Grateful Dead. We'll talk with the affable Haynes about The Allmans, The Grateful Dead's Fare Thee Well concerts and more.
