Did You Know is a collaborative effort of Siouxland Public Media and Iowa State University Extension and Outreach.

Did you know last year in Iowa nearly 2000 Master Gardeners  volunteered over 119,000 hours for community garden and beautification projects.  Who are Master Gardeners? Master Gardeners come from a variety of backgrounds. They are passionate about serving their communities and sharing gardening best practices. They are individuals who have taken the Master Gardener training and share their time and expertise as volunteers in community gardens, city beautification projects, farmers markets and many other community-based horticultural efforts.

Did you know some of our local ISU Extension and Outreach county offices have been here serving Iowans for over 100 years? In 1903, a group of Sioux County farmers cooperated with Iowa State University to establish the "extension idea" - taking the knowledge and research of our land-grant college to the people. Today Iowa State University Extension and Outreach serves as a 99-county campus providing education and partnerships designed to solve today’s problems and prepare for the future.
