Chris Smither hasn't released an album of original music in six years, he's evidently been saving up because with "The Blame's on Me" the axiom "All Killer - No Filler" applies. Bernard Allison, whom we also  haven't heard from for awhile returns with a new album on Ruf recordings. Plus Rev. Shawn Amos, Tinsley Ellis and John Lee Hooker this time on the 10 O'Clock Blues.

Singer Bettye LaVette doesn't write songs - there are plenty of good songs already. She takes other people's songs and gives them a completely new place and time. She does a whole album of Dylan tunes and you can hear the title cut (minus one bad word) also new music from Johnny Tucker, pedal steel player, A.J. Ghent and an absolute gem from Big Voice Odom teamed up with Earl Hooker on T-Bone Walker's Stormy Monday.
