Mackenzie Melemed

Pianist Boris Slutsky is the next guest on Opus. Slutsky grew up in Russia and burst onto the scene winning every major prize at the William Kapell International Piano Competition in 1981. He is now Chair of Piano at The Peabody Conservatory and recently began teaching at Northwestern University. Gretchen Gondek had a chance to talk to Slutsky after a recent performance at the Morningside College Piano Recital Series.

Gretchen Hosts 2017 Iowa Piano Competition winner Mackenzie Melemed on this week's Opus. Melemed had a busy week in Siouxland performing at the Sioux City Art Center in addition to his performance with the Sioux City Symphony with the Halloween themed Night of Taunts and Terrors concert.

Gretchen Gondek talks with Ryan Haskins about this Saturday Night's concert at the Orpheum Theater. It features Iowa Piano Competition Winner Mackenzie Melemed as soloist and an entire evening of scary music. Also featured, although off-stage, will be special bells on loan from the Dallas Symphony Orchestra brought in just for this Saturday evening's performance.
