Yunnan province in southwestern China spreads between the tropical jungles of Burma and Vietnam on the South and the Himalayan heights of Tibet on the north; it's a massive land with dynamic features and history. Shanren, comprised of musicians from this region, joins together the features and traditions that have been shaped by these dynamics as well as the by the band members' studies and travels throughout the world.

Boys Club of Sioux City Kicks Up their Boots at the 40th Annual Western Steak Dinner

The Boys Club of Sioux City will host their 40th Annual Western Steak Dinner and Steer Auction on Saturday, Sept. 10th at Sue Anne Farms just a mile north of Sioux City. Upon arrival you will feel like you’ve left town and stepped back in time as you are welcomed by greeters on horseback to an outdoor old western party and casino.  Enter to win a pair of tickets.  If the link doesn't work with your email system, email mindy.thompson@witcc.edu to enter.  Drawing will be held September 1st, and winner will be notified by email.

The event will begin with the Iowa State vs. Iowa game, casino and cocktails at 6:00, dinner and The Emily Johnson Band at 7:30 p.m., and a live steer auction to follow. 

Tickets are $100 per person and can be purchased by calling 712-258-5545 or buy online.  A portion of your ticket is tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law. 

With the financial support of the Iowa Broadcasters Association, through the IBA Foundation, UNI's Department of Communication Studies is offering a unique 2014 summer internship program - working to place Electronic Media Industry Leadership Program students in IBA member radio and television stations this summer.  

The IBA Foundation is underwriting scholarships to help fund this special program.   Interested radio and television stations are encouraged to submit an application for one or more students.
