Gretchen sits down with Randy Peters who is at the helm of a production of opera, Amahl and the Night Visitors, by Gian-Carlo Menotti. The opera will be performed at 7 p.m. December 14-16, at 1st Congregational United Church of Christ.
Gretchen welcomes Dr. Richard Steinbach to Opus this time. Steinbach is the M.A. Everist Foundation Artist in Residence at Briar Cliff University and he'll talk about his teaching, his travels, his recordings and his upcoming Christmas Spirit performance at the National Music Museum.

Pianist Boris Slutsky is the next guest on Opus. Slutsky grew up in Russia and burst onto the scene winning every major prize at the William Kapell International Piano Competition in 1981. He is now Chair of Piano at The Peabody Conservatory and recently began teaching at Northwestern University. Gretchen Gondek had a chance to talk to Slutsky after a recent performance at the Morningside College Piano Recital Series.
Gretchen Hosts 2017 Iowa Piano Competition winner Mackenzie Melemed on this week's Opus. Melemed had a busy week in Siouxland performing at the Sioux City Art Center in addition to his performance with the Sioux City Symphony with the Halloween themed Night of Taunts and Terrors concert.
