This week I’m changing things up a little bit and recommending to you all one of my new favorite authors, Nickolas Butler. Born in Pennsylvania, but raised in Wisconsin, this former hot-dog vendor, potato harvester, and Christmas tree axe-man, has found international success with his wonderfully engaging yet spare writing style, authentic characters, and strong sense of place he is able to evoke in each work.

The Exchange: Water

This week we will talk about all things water. Water quality, water management, and the apparently rising waters of the earth. First though, we talk with a man who is fighting an effort by the state legislature to do away with the Des Moines Water Works. Lawmakers have been debating a bill that would essentially dismantle the organization.  Bill Stowe is the CEO of the Des Moines Water Works.
